The Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency, farmer and former actor, Hon. John Setor Dumelo, has taken to social media to announce the distribution of Made-in-Ghana cocoa drinks to public basic schools in his constituency.
In a communiqué shared on his social media platforms, he stated:
Effective 2nd March 2026, all public basic school pupils in the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency, from Class 1 to Class 4, will receive free Ghana-made cocoa drinks once a week until the end of the year.
He explained that cocoa is a highly nutritious powerhouse, especially for growing children, as it is rich in essential antioxidants, iron and magnesium, which are vital for cognitive development and maintaining high energy levels throughout the school day.
Beyond the health benefits, the initiative, according to him, underscores his commitment to:
Boosting Local Industry: By sourcing exclusively Ghana-made products, the programme supports hardworking cocoa farmers and local manufacturers.
Enhancing School Attendance: Providing nutritious incentives is expected to encourage consistent enrolment and participation in public schools.
National Pride: The initiative aims to help children grow up appreciating the “gold” of the land, fostering a lifelong connection to Ghana’s national heritage.
Hon. Dumelo added that the programme reflects his belief that a healthy child is a teachable child, and together, the constituency can build a stronger, healthier and smarter future for Ayawaso West Wuogon.
