Popular Ghanaian social media influencer Nana Tea has triggered meaningful change in Upper Manya Krobo in the Eastern Region after highlighting the lack of access to clean drinking water in a local school.
During a humanitarian visit organised with AccessMore Ghana to donate sandals to pupils, Nana Tea shared photos and videos showing schoolchildren drinking water directly from a flowing stream. The images quickly gained traction online and sparked public concern about the living and learning conditions of the children.
Following the viral post, a philanthropist who had pledged to support the community honoured her commitment by funding the drilling of a borehole for the school and its surrounding area. The borehole project is near completion and is expected to be fully operational by the next academic term, providing the children with clean and potable water.
Beyond the water intervention, the poor condition of the road leading to the school was also brought to light. Nana Tea confirmed that the road, which was previously not motorable, has since been worked on, improving access to the community.
The development has been widely praised as a powerful example of how social media can be used to draw attention to neglected communities and inspire practical solutions that improve lives.
